  • 2 Some Very Rude Staff!!

To cut a long story short, I had ordered a dress from Bride Be Lovely in Manchester with veil and underskirt, in March 2009 for my wedding that will be held in August next year. I had paid £200 and my order came to £900. However as a bride does, I went to the shop to view my dress and it was not there for me to view. I spoke to the Assistant and asked if I could change my order if I wanted because I had not been fitted for anything, she was very rude towards me and got a senior member of staff who told me that I could so I paid a further £100. I then went back on another occasion to view my dress and again it wasn't there and the same assistant made me feel very uncomfortable in the shop. I decided that because of the way I was being treated in the shop that I wanted to cancel my order, so i phoned up and asked if I could cancel and was told that If I did I would lose my deposit. I then said can I exchange the deposit for goods worth the amount that I paid and I was told that I could. I then went into the shop last week Sunday and explained what I was told over the phone, the lady I spoke to was very nice and explained that I could still order my veil but that I would have to pay a cancellation fee of £20. and that I coud get items for the value of my deposit, but that the manager would need to authorise this so I should call back in the week. She also advised that she would inform her about our agreement. However when I went into the shop to see the manager, I was met by the rudest person ever, who told me that under the consumer agreement the shop does not have to let me have anything. I asked if I could still have my veil and she told me no and that the only thing I could do was order another dress, which I didn't want to from this shop because I did not trust them to treat me correctly. I explained to her that I would rather cancel my order as I was unhappy with the way that I had been treated in the shop, so the outcome bride be lovely kept my money and did not let me have my veil which I had paid for , the tiara was £159. So my warning to anyone who orders anything in this shop, do not sign their order forms unless you are 100% certain because if you have any concerns or complaints about the service in the shop, they will treat you like dirt.

  • 2 Daughter's Wedding Dress

Having purchased my daughter's wedding dress 12 months prior to wedding date, we returned for final fitting over 2 months previous to the big day. We collected the dress and were informed that the dress had been cleaned. All without our premission. We paid the alteration fee and took the dress. However on trying the dress on again with it's matching train the dress and train no longer matched. We returned both to the shop and it was agreed that the two did not match, but now the shop was denying that they had cleaned the dress. The shop found an alternative train that was a better match but would not release it without without the return of the original perfect part of the original purchase ie the train being returned. I said the train was my evidence that the dress had been cleaned. Eight days before the wedding, after making complaints to head office the shop was still refusing to release my daughter's dress and offered no compensation for my daughter having to be married in effect a "secondhand" dress. They offered her any other dress in the shop but my daughter had choosen this particular dress to be married in and did not want another one. They offered not a penny compensation for damaging my goods that were in their care. Eventually 9 days before my daughter's wedding my husband and I had to virtually stage a sit in as they were still refusing to release the dress and train. So I would wish you to take into account our experience before choosing a bridal shop.

  • 10 fantastic

I went to bride be lovely just on the off chance there would be sumthing in the sale as i was getting married in less than 5 months and every other bridal shop said they couldnt order a dress in time. But there wasnt anything in the sale i liked. I was talking to the assistant and she was most helpfull and did everything she could, within 1 hour i was walking out of the shop having just bought the most beautiful dress and only had to pop back for the fitting i was really happy and they made the presure and stress jusy go away. So pleasent and helpfull and most of all a really amazing range of dresses. I really would advise everyone to go and have a look.

  • 8 Good quality bridal store

I visited Bride be lovely about 12 months before my wedding. I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I was allowed to try garments on without the need to book an appointment. The dresses were reasonably priced too and the store had a wide selection of gowns available to try on. There was also a selection of tiaras and veils to complete the look. This store is highly reccommended.
