• Practical, wide range of fabrics, craft materials etc, customer service so so.

  I have visited about 3 to 4 times. I am new to dress making, and have dabbled in crafts here and there for occassions such as cards for birthdays. I like the range of things you can find there, whether for knitting, crafting, sewing, quilting, they most likely will have what you need and then some. I am however disappointed with the level of customer service there. They did no more than operating like robots when scanning my purchases but there was no smiles, no eye contact, no pleasantaries whatsoever, and I leave feeling like I have intruded. Perhaps this is one of those 'local shops for local people' where they are only nice to people they know. It's a shame that this is the only shop accessible to me that stock a wide range, otherwise I would visit elsewhere.

• Textile treasure trove

  A fabulous shop for anyone interested in making things with textiles. The ground floor is the place to find real bargains, where cloth is sold by the kilo and bags of threads and haberdashery beg to be snapped up by the keen craftsperson. In addition a small craft department offers specialist embroidery, papercraft and knitting supplies. Upstairs fabric is sold by the metre at fabulously reasonable prices and the haberdashery department supplies patterns, ribbons, buttons and all the sundries needed to complete that special outfit. Friendly, knowledgeable staff complete the experience. Well worth the walk up Oldham Road!

• Fantastic Fabrics

  I find the staff to be extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The fabrics are fantastic and you have a wide choice.

• Abakhan - great place

  This a brilliant shop- material can be bought by weight, in pieces or on a roll, All prices from 50p to whatever you want to pay. Bundles of odds available- I just wish there were more shops like this on the outskirts of manchester as I can't get to it very often! Think they have a branch in Leek or Stoke

• Great Shop

  Abakhan is so good for value. It has a great range of fabrics at such cheap prices. If you don't got there for your fabric then your missing out.
