Higher Green Lane, ,
Decided to go to the Boathouse on Valentines day last weekend (2009).The place was virtually empty which is never a good sign when you're going for a meal.I had steak and kidney pie which was awful. It looked like it had been kept warm in the oven for two or three days. Chips were cold and veg was tasteless. My friend had vegetable lasgne this was like a childs portion and also tasteless. It came with garlic bread, which was a small baguette sliced and toasted with a bit of garlic butter spread on.Salad that came with it looked like that had been left out overnightas well. I only went there as I used to go years ago with my children and I always had a good meal...But not anymore.. I'll avoid it like the plague in future. If you want a really good meal and great value go to the Ross's Arms you'll pass it if you're intending to go to the Boathouse.. Can't recommend Ross's enough.. Give the Boathouse a wide berth....
This is a Nice Pub / Restaurant. It is located off Lower Green Lane Towards Lower Green & Higher Green. The pub has a large car park, and is located at the side of the canal. The food in there was excellent and worth a visit.

Excellent canalside pub. Probably very nice in summer, but I only seem to in winter. Excellent local produce menu, (not (portion controlled). Good curry menu. Small portions for small appetites.Good ales particularly recommend Jennings Cumberland now spreading around since brewery takeover.Live music most weekends, which I cannot comment on as I have not been to one.
