I recently went to Petra on Upper Brook Street, Manchester after being recommended by some relatives. I found the food to be of excellent quality and highly authentic as my mothers family originally came from Syria. The service is friendly and attentive. Although they are not licenced to sell alcohol, you can take your own wines etc. Since going there, I have also had several take-away meals. The kibbeh are especially good as there are very few places who sell this delicacy which is spiced minced lamb in a crunchy coating which is torpedo shaped and deep fried. Their salads are particularly good. The fattoush is very tasty as are their stuffed vegetables. I also like the stuffed vine leaves. I would highly recommend Petra if you want to try something a bit different. A meal for 2 should cost no more than £40.
