In 1794 this site was the location of the first Catholic church to be built in England since the Reformation. The current church was built in 1848 and is notable for its ornate Victorian interior, contrasted with the modern stylings of their stations of the cross. The church has been dubbed the 'Hidden Gem' of Manchester architecture.
