• Best Coffee shop around

  Was walking round sale at the weekend and was hunting for a nice coffee shop, thought of going to cafe nero but found a little cafe called Encounters. Lovely welcoming cafe with friendly staff, i got tempted to have a piece of one of the delicious homemade cakes and so i did. Carrot cake was gorgeous. Will definitely be returning!

• Classy coffee shop

  Weary from wandering round Sale shopping? Then I have the perfect cure - a stop off at Encounters Cafe. If you know the precinct, where the new Peacocks shop is, Encounters is on the side street facing it.We visited for the first time on Saturday and loved it. We'd only gone in for a cup of coffee, and maybe a pastry, but lunchtime was calling, and my eye was caught by homemade cheese & onion pie. Mrs Mallymal had the chilli, and both were excellent, although my pie was a little heavy on potato. Potato you say - in a cheese & onion pie? Well according to the Hairy Bikers (screened just 2 days after our visit) you always put potato in it!Coffee was good - and when she brought my Capuccino, the waitress remarked it looked a little weak, so ahe had brought an extra shot of espresso in a little jug, for me to add if I liked - a nice touch i thought.
