Fantastic Night Out

Eight of us dined at Glamorous on a busy Saturday night recently to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We had pre-booked by phone and the staff I had spoken to were very helpful and able to accommodate my advanced requests. The building is quite unique, and the buzz of the restaurant hits you as soon as you enter through the doors and enter the waiting area. Our table wasn’t quite ready on arrival so we stood at the bar for five minutes with a drink. We were then shown to a large circular table, complete with a Lazy Susan. This was ideal. The restaurant was packed and therefore created quite a bit of noise, however we all felt that this and the aromatic scents that wafted around made the atmosphere just right for a night of celebration. Our waiter was amazing - a friendly young man who was very patient in trying to explain how to get the most out of the menu. We decided to go for a selection of starters to share between us and we experimented with several new dishes, including seafood nests, crab claws, squid, ribs and even frog! The presentation of every single meal was very impressive. Following our plethora of exotic starters, we moved onto our second course. As patrons of Chinese restaurants in general, we’re big fans of crispy aromatic duck, so we felt that this was a must. We weren’t disappointed either. There was enough to go around and the Duck was both succulent and crisp around the edges. The cucumber was fresh and the pancakes were still hot when they arrived to us. We each picked one dish we wanted and once more we selected a range of dishes and everyone shared around. I had the sizzling Thai fillet steak, which was literally sizzling as it arrived at the table. My wife chose a lobster based dish and my son and his fiancée picked a very appealing looking birds nest meal to share. Everything we had was well presented and tasted great and the service was perfect. The bill came to just under £300 with drinks and a tip. Not bad for a group of eight people who over ate (and maybe over drank) a little! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants amazing food and a great atmosphere. Avoid Saturday nights if you have a preference for calm and quiet eating atmospheres!
